Meet the Artists

Involves multimedia collaborations with local creative talents, including sculptor Ren Zhe, digital art and entertainment design consultant Victor Wong, fashion consultant William Chang Suk Ping, cultural consultant Benny Li, film score composer Tomy Wai, musician Scarlett Chan, and cartoonist Lee Chi-ching. The event will feature museum and public art exhibitions, showcasing the heroes from Jin Yong's works through immersive digital experiences, sculptures, paintings, calligraphy, design art, film and television entertainment, and music. The aim is to create a cultural intellectual property (IP) that is exclusive to Hong Kong, actively promoting the long-term and sustainable development of the cultural, artistic, and creative industries.

Ren Zhe

Ren Zhe is a pioneering young sculptor. Despite his young age, he has a profound understanding of the illustrious history and culture of China. He also has a global vision that enables him to incorporate the Eastern and Western culture, as well as traditional and modern aesthetics, in his works. Through the use of contemporary materials, he brings out the interplay between the contemporary artistic expressions and the quintessential values of traditional Eastern philosophy in perfect harmony. The unique theme of Ren Zhe's works strives to convey a timeless aspiration, for a virtue that embraces the world and to ceaselessly enrich oneself. His works, highly dynamic and illustrative, encapsulate Ren Zhe's intensely humanistic aspirations, allowing us to appreciate the eternal essence of art and culture.

William Chang

Fashion Consultant

William Chang is a Hong Kong film art director and costume designer. He has gained international recognition in the fields of film editing, art direction, and costume design. He has won the "Hong Kong Film Awards" 18 times and has received "Best Art Direction", "Best Film Editing", and other technical film awards at the "Golden Horse Awards" 14 times.

In 1992, the film The Legend of the Swordsman (adapted from Jin Yong's novel The Smiling, Proud Wanderer) received nine nominations at the "29th Golden Horse Awards" and the "12th Hong Kong Film Awards". Ultimately, it won the award for "Best Costume & Makeup Design".

In 1993, the film The East Is Red received a nomination for "Best Costume & Makeup Design" at the "13th Hong Kong Film Awards". In 1994, he served as Art Director for the film Ashes of Time, and the film won him the "Best Film Editing", "Best Art Direction", and "Best Costume & Makeup Design" awards at the "14th Hong Kong Film Awards".

Victor Wong

Digital Art and Entertainment Design Consultant

Victor Wong graduated from the University of Washington in the United States in 1989 and has made a name for himself in the fields of digital art and film special effects. In 2018, he invented the world's first artificial intelligence ink painter, A.I. Gemini. In January 2019, he unveiled the world's first "TECH-iNK" landscape painting series, receiving high praise from international collectors and media.

He founded the visual effects production company, which has created nearly a thousand television commercials and designed visual effects for over a hundred Hong Kong and Hollywood films, including Iron Man, Men in Black III, Rise of the Legend, CJ7, and Initial D. Many of these works have received accolades such as the Japan JIAA Awards, the New York Festivals Advertising Awards, the Hong Kong Film Awards, and the Taiwan Golden Horse Awards.

In 2019, he received the "Martell Artist of the Year" award from the French brand Martell and the "InnoStars Award" from Our Hong Kong Foundation in recognition of his spirit of "exploring innovative ideas while preserving classic heritage."

From 2020 to 2023, he designed exhibitions for Lee Tung Avenue in Wan Chai, the Hong Kong Palace Museum, the Hong Kong Science Museum's "The Big Eight - Dinosaur Revelation" and "Art@Harbour" featuring innovative smart art installations and immersive digital experiences.

Scarlett Chan

Musician

Scarlett Chan is a renowned Chinese pianist based in the United States. She has a deep love for Chinese music and culture and is dedicated to making the outstanding musical art of the Chinese people more widely known and understood. She participated in the adaptation and premiere
of the piano concerto "Butterfly Lovers" at the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing, which received unanimous acclaim from the original creators and was nationally broadcast on CCTV. In 2010, she amazed the audience once again with her performance at a big charity concert for overseas Chinese in the Water Cube, held to celebrate the two-year anniversary of the Beijing Olympics. Her performance was hailed as another Chinese classic piano concerto following the "Yellow River Piano Concerto".

At the age of 18, she won three gold awards in international competitions and performed solo recitals in prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and the Kennedy Center. In 2006, she received her bachelor's degree with honours as the "Best Pianist of the Year". In 2008, she obtained her master's degree from the Mannes School of Music in New York.

Benny Li

Cultural Consultant

Benny Li a renowned columnist and painter from Hong Kong and former Deputy Editor of the supplements of Ming Pao and Sing Pao Daily News. He has been a close friend of Jin Yong for several decades. He has authored more than 70 books, including novels, essays, children's literature, film scripts, food reviews, art collections, and photography collections. He has held numerous large-scale solo art and photography exhibitions in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Hangzhou, and other places. He has also hosted cultural, travel, and food programmes on radio and television stations in Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, which have gained widespread popularity.

Lee Chi Ching

Painter

Lee Chi Ching is Jin Yong's regular cartoonist. He is also Vice-Chairman of the Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan Artists Association. In 2007, he received the Gold Award in the "Japan International MANGA Award". He has been involved in the field of comics since 1981 and collaborated mainly with Japanese publishers in the 1990s. He has published works such as Romance of the Three Kingdoms and The Art of War. In 1997, he co-founded a publishing company with Jin Yong, published The Eagleshooting Heroes and The Smiling, Proud Wanderer, and illustrated book covers for the Japanese versions of Jin Yong's novels.

He co-founded a company with Jin Yong's Ming Ho Publications, which published comic adaptations of Jin Yong's novels, and he created book covers and illustrations for many of Jin Yong's novels. He was invited to curate the "Exhibition on Paintings Adapted from Jin Yong's Novels" at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum's Jin Yong Gallery in 2017 and created commemorative stamps featuring illustrations of Jin Yong's novels for Hongkong Post in 2018. In recent years, he has also been writing a literary column for Ming Pao Monthly.

Tomy Wai

Film Score Composer

Tomy Wai is a renowned film composer from Hong Kong who was introduced to the industry by Mr. Lau Yee Tat. His first official work in film scoring was for the movie Thou Shalt Not Swear. With over twenty years of experience in the industry, he has collaborated with numerous directors, including Mr. Tsui Hark, Mr. Derek Yee, and Ms. Ann Hui. He has composed music for more than 130 films and television productions, earning him various film awards and nominations. In the early years, he
won " Best Original Score" award at the "Taiwan Golden Horse Film Festival" for the film Temptation of a Monk (1993). His recent work, Gallants (2010), won him the Hong Kong Film Awards for "Best Original Film Score".

Tomy Wai's versatility extends beyond film scoring. His melodies can be heard in short commercial advertisements, Hong Kong TV dramas, and even in animated characters like Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf. Meeting him in person, whether on stage or in the classroom, is not a difficult task.

In recent years, Tomy Wai has successfully connected industry talents and formed the first Hong Kong Film Composers' Association, dedicated to promoting industry development and nurturing the next generation of composers.
